You Should Be Gellin’ – Experimental Monoprinting & Journal Making with Trish McKinney
Learn the exciting world of monoprinting by using Gel-Press gelatin plates with unusual textural elements on non-traditional surfaces to create layers of FUN! Students will be encouraged to experiment and pull many prints on a variety of unusual surfaces. Choosing their favorite prints, students will then will create a 16-page journal and a some inspirational cards. This is a class that always makes the time fly by – it’s just pure fun!
Supplies To Bring:
Gel Press 8x10 (or larger) Gel Plate, Brayer, Bone Folder, Scissors, Self-healing Cutting Mat (and an Awl
(Trish will bring a few for the class to borrow) – Wear an apron or your favorite “studio shirt” as things will get messy (messy always indicates a good time! ;)
Optional Materials To Bring:
Favorite mark making tools, unusual papers for printing, textural stamps, & stencils (only, if you have them)
For The Gellin’ Journal: bring inspirational ephemra - ie, a bit of lace from a baptismal dress, favorite words, quotes, or poems printed out, photos printed out for collaging, a photo copy of grandmother’s journal, pressed flowers, etc... - whatever inspires you! Have fun with this! Trish will have plenty of ephemra to share as well.
Trish will provide everything else to take this class! GOLDEN Open Acrylics, GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics, Brushes, Textural Stamps, Stencils from StencilGirl (designed by Trish) Paper, Matte Medium, Gesso, & more!
