Sunglasses Not Included

It's a super bright Mandala Monday, thanks to the bold and beautiful colors of VersaFine Clair Inks!   I used only a fraction of The Ink Pad's selection of VersaFine Colors, including Charming Pink, Summertime Orange, Cheerful Yellow, Verdant, Paradise and Purple Delight. I outlined my mandala shapes with several sizes of Posca Pen in Black and White (plus a few colors) and added finer details with a couple of Black Microns. If this combination is just a little (or a lot, lol!) too bold, don't worry, there are nearly twenty shades of VersaFine Clair to choose from at The...

Villainous Blends

The new Distress Ink shade, Villainous Potion, has arrived at The Ink Pad in all its glorious varieties of Ink Pads, Reinkers, Sprays, Paint and Embossing Glaze, and it may actually be the ULTIMATE Purple! My favorite Distress product is Oxide Ink, and my favorite way to get acquainted with a new color is to test out lots of blends with the existing palette to see which combinations will be my favorites.  I like to use little ATC-sized pieces of cardstock for this exercise, and I take time after each blend to write the color names on the back in...

Going Round in Circles

Sometimes, going round in circles is a good thing, especially if the circles in question are tiny vellum circle stickers from Eagle Japan, which can be found at The Ink Pad. With 78 stickers per pack, at $5.95, these Assorted Sticker Sets are a fantastic value as well as being very appealing; and useful for cards, ATCs, journals, planners and more! There are Pandas, Bunnies, Postage, Dogs and Girl-themedsets, but I especially love the many pattern-making possibilities of the Circle Assortment. I paired my Circle Stickers with circle, flower and leaf diecuts from LDRS' Slim Line Corner Scallop Die Set....

Deckled Rainbows

Whenever I'm not sure what color to choose, I go with my all-time favorite... RAINBOW!  In this case, I got a headstart from The Papercut's Poptone Variety Slimline Card Assortment, which has twenty-eight perfectly scored slimline cards in fourteen gorgeous colors. I can even pair them with Picket Fence Studios' Slim Line Rainbow Envelope Assortment. I used Tim Holtz's Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer from Tonic to make my own geometric rainbow patterns and had so much fun stacking and arranging all the colors. I love the way the deckle edge adds extra dimension and interest to each layer of color....

Prize Ribbon *IS* a Winner!

Of course ANY new Ranger Distress color is a cause for celebration, but the newest shade, Prize Ribbon, is a deep, vibrant blue that blends exceptionally well with many other colors from the line. When I get a new Distress Oxide, the first thing I do is make a bunch of ATC-sized panels and experiment with lots of different blends. I highly recommend this sort of experimental play for devising interesting pairings. Be sure to make note of the colors on the back of your ATCs as you work, so you can easily recreate your faves!   As you'd expect,...
