The Magic of Opaque Pens

There are few things more magical in the Craftiverse than an opaque pen which writes smoothly and shows up really well on black paper. Here are the newest ones I've added to my arsenal: Metallic Poscas, Zig Acrylistas and the good old Uniball Signo which, if anything, is even better than I remembered!

Posca Pens are arguably *the* name in opaque paint pens for use on a variety of surfaces, so it won't be too surprising to hear that their metallic paint pens are every bit as good. In these samples I've used the 5mm bullet tip in Metallic Pink and Silver and as you can see, they are utterly gorgeous. We've got other colors, too, plus 3mm and 1mm tips; if you click this link you'll see the whole selection of Poscas.

Zig Acrylista are new to me and I was favorably impressed. They are gorgeous on paper and also work on plastic, glass, metal, etc. I used the Black 6mm chisel tip and the .5mm Extra Fine Silver  on these samples, and also played around a bit with their 15mm Broad Point (it's a BIG pen!) which would be absolutely amazing for writing signs! We've got black, white, silver and gold, which covers all the basics.
Uniball Signo's Broad Gel Pen is another journaler's stand by and it's easy to see why. It's a gel pen with a roller, so you can make it work on top of paint, bumpy surfaces and the like. I've used it somewhat unadventurously on black paper, but it's notable for being REALLY bright in just one coat. This pen's in stock in white, silver and gold.

Need some black paper on which to perform your own opaque pen experiments? I recently got a Jet Black Notebook and I'm smitten. It seems weird to say it's got the "brightest" black paper I've ever seen, but it really is a bit special. But The Ink Pad has other black notebooks, black paper pads, black cardstock and even black ATC blanks, so you've got plenty of choice!
