Or in this case, tags, plural, nice big ones that can hold words made with Altenew Bold Alphabet Dies and a nice portion of StencilGirl Pointed Scalloped Border Stencils and Masks. Both of which are available at The Ink Pad, as it happens!
Here's a shocking true confession: to make the words fit perfectly on the tags, I diecut the letters first, before I built the tags! In this case, the size needed to place "create" horizontally and "play" vertically, turned out to be 4.5 x 7"; so I trimmed down two pieces of plain white cardstock, chopped off the corners and punched a hole at the top of each.
I made my own patterned paper by neatly lining up strips of Dina Wakley Washi Tape on scraps of white cardstock, then using Altenew's Bold Alphabet Dies to cut the letters. I cut a second set from solid cardstock (white for "create" and grey for "play") and affixed them behind each letter at a slight offset, to serve as a drop-shadow, so that the words would stand out more.
I used both the stencils and the masks for each design; and a blend of Distress Oxide Inks to match the tapes. On the "create" tag, I placed two borders of the pointed scallop on either side of a two-inch gap filled with MT Houghan Berrymousse and Matte Grey Slim Tape and used Spun Sugar for the background and a blend of Wilted Violet, Chipped Sapphire and Worn Lipstick for the interior shapes. On the "play" tag, I glued down a bit of torn dictionary paper from the Well Defined Collage Pack and used Speckled Egg for the background, with a mix of Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers on top. One of my most used stamps is the perfect ink splatter that was included in Tim Holtz's Spring Shadows Stamp Set from Stampers Anonymous (ps: it's in the SALE section!!!) which I stamped a few times in both Hickory Smoke and Black Soot for a bit of grunge. I threaded a few strands of Avery Elle "Midnight" Hemp Twine and called it good.
There are so many amazing StencilGirl and Altenew products available at The Ink Pad, I hope you'll stop by the Chelsea location or cruise The Ink Pad Online to find your next favorite!
