Here's a shocking true confession: When Tim Holtz announced the newest Distress Color, Crackling Campfire, I was not entirely convinced. Did we really need another orangey-red? Wouldn't it be too close to either Barn Door or Ripe Persimmon? And then the ink in question arrived at The Ink Pad and of course I was entirely smitten. The moral of this story? Trust Tim!!! :)
Anna requested a palette that included both Crackling Campfire and Speckled Egg, along with a soft yellow and a rich brown. I decided to use all Distress Oxide Inks, and chose Antique Linen and Vintage Photo, respectively, and added in some Tattered Rose as well. I'm calling this the "Cosy Campfire Palette" and you're welcome to use it in your own artwork, I hope you'll love these colors together as much as I do!
While I was experimenting with blending various combinations, my biggest problem was deciding exactly WHICH of my little demo panels should be The One. And then my husband said, "I kind of like them all together!" So I added Vintage Photo to all of them through TH's Doodle Art 1 Layering Stencil, and added them to a kraft A7 card. I used Dina Wakley's Alpha Mask and Stencil set to trace a sentiment, did a little machine stitching et voila, it's a card!
