Not Just for Traveling

It's tempting to argue that 2020 is the year in which we needed calendars and planners the least; but to the contrary, I've found I've used and worked in my Traveler's Notebook from The Ink Pad more than ever. Because it's a system that you can customize to work perfectly for your life! For example, did you know that there are many TN refill options that don't even involve a calendar? Such as Sketchbook, Watercolor, Gridded and Kraft Paper inserts that turn your TN into a portable sketchbook, art journal, or creative writing habitat. The Traveler's Notebook Master Blog Post from the end of September lays out all of the basics about sizes, refills and covers; you might like to check it out if you're thinking about jumping into the TN universe.
The products I chose for 2020 were a Regular Size Weekly Plus Memo, which I use partially as an art journal, but also to record all the big and small milestones of the year; including the books I've read, favorite tv shows and movies, new recipes, quotes I want to remember and whatever else I feel like adding any given week. I also use aFree (aka Undated) Diary Monthly to keep track of all my creative assignments, so that I have a visual record where I can quickly see what products, colors and themes I've used recently, and what I need to include in future. In the photo above, you can also see a Passport Size Weekly Diary which I picked up recently at The Ink Pad as a "leftover" item, because I wanted to see if I'd like working in that small size.
For this simple November monthly spread I used Kelly's Outline Letters from Hero Arts to add the dates to the calendar grid, and colored them in with Tombow Dual Brush Pens, which I also used for the title lettering. I decorated the margins with White Lace Gem Tape through which I sponged a tiny bit of Antique Linen Distress Ink for contrast. I added accents of MT Slim (3mm) Art Tape in red to set off the different sections and give another pop of color.
I did two versions of essentially the same collage in the Passport Sized 2020 Weekly (above) and the Regular Size Volume (below). I started with some torn vintage paper from a Collage Pack, added White Lace Flower Tape, Vellum Typewriter Stickers, Vintage Flower Stickers, Translucent Flower Etchings Stickers and typed quotations. The Passport format is just a little more than half the size of the Regular, but I still felt like I had enough room to be creative.
For next year, I've chosen to re-use my Regular Size Binder as opposed to a Leather Cover and I'm going with the 2021 Weekly Plus Memo; I'll be using the 2021 Monthly Diary as well. I also treated myself to the Limited Edition 2021 Customizing Stickers (this year's theme is books!) and a Brass Bookmark Template
