Most of the time I'm a "Use EVERY Color in the Big Box of Crayons" kinda gal, but sometimes it's nice to go a bit monochrome and elegant!
My card is just a smidge under A2, but with a difference... I made my 5x12" kraft cardstock base into a trifold. I stamped Hero Arts' Bookcase Woodmount Stamp in clear VersaMark ink on the left-hand panel and heat embossed with Ranger White Embossing Powder. Then I carefully trimmed around some of the books at the open end of the card to make a sort of staggered effect. I matted the edge with cardstock just half a tone darker to make the staggered cut more durable and a bit more finished looking.
On the right-hand panel I lined up a few dozen of the whimsical text stickers from Tim Holtz's Idea-Ology Clippings Sticker Book, as if we were sort of peeking into some of the books on those beautifully stamped shelves. I added one more sticker, "Everyday Words" to the front and wrapped some fine jute twine around to hold the card shut.
In addition to the wood mount stamp, Hero Arts makes a very similar stamp as part of their Peek-a-Boo line, it's called Peek-a-Book Bookcase and has some fun sentiments and extras, as well. Available at The Ink Pad Online, as soooooo many cool things are!
loves beautiful books almost
as much as art supplies!
