More Books, Please!

Here's a card that combines a couple of my favorite cardmaking strategies: making my own customized background and stamping a sentiment for which there is no sentiment stamp! Because really, the main reason we love making our own cards is that we can tailor them to fit the interests and personalities of our friends and family, right?

Washi Tape makes awesome patterned paper, and that's what I've used here. I cut my plain white cardstock to 4 x 5.25" (the perfect panel for an A2 card) then neatly lined up strips of Book Tape, wrapping the ends around to the back of the panel. Alternatively, you could use this gorgeous Hero Arts Bookcase Stamp, from The Ink Pad! It would coordinate perfectly with the Eyelet Outlet Book Brads and Heart Brads I used to add texture to my faux library card.

I probably have more sets of Alphabet Stamps than anyone else I know, lol. They come in very handy when I want to make a custom sentiment like, "You're my favorite non-fictional person" which I saw on a t-shirt and thought would make a FAB card. Whenever I'm hand-stamping anything one letter at a time I like to work on lined, graphed, or ledger paper because those nice straight horizontal lines save me from measuring!
