I had a lot of fun playing with a pair of Tim Holtz Patchwork Stencils from Idea-Ology, and appropriately enough, I used a bunch of Tim's beautiful Distress Oxide Inks. Coincidentally, all of these supplies are available at The Ink Pad.
I chose a palette of warm analagous colors: Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey, Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany, to be precise. But since the stencil's elements are set fairly far apart, making it possible to ink each cube or circle separately, you could use any combination you like together. I chose to work in rows, and played around with placing the stencils horizontally, vertically and (my favorite) diagonally. I even fussy-cut some of my extra circle patches to add them on top of the main design with foam tape. I added subtle accents of Slim Tape and super-thin Metallic Circular Patches and an old-skool labelmaker sentiment and called it a day!
I hope you'll be inspired to try something new with your favorite stencils OR treat yourself to a few new ones from The Ink Pad!
