Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

I'm fairly smitten by a new, just slightly snarky, line of Mary Engelbreit cling stamps called Mary Engeldark. This set is called Have My Cake and Eat It Too and it's the perfect star for my shaker card:
I stamped with Memento's Tuxedo Black and did the "base coat" of coloring with waterbased markers; then I went back and added a bit of shading with Derwent Procolour Pencils, because I find it slightly easier to build up color subtly in small areas with pencil. I stamped just the cake area of the image a second time in VersaFine Clair "Charming Pink", on a separate sheet of thin copy paper (so the cake would not have black icing!) then carefully cut around the cake and adhered it on top. Inside the shaker, in addition to sequins and seed beads, I've added a few Eyelet Outlet Cake Brads. To make them fit better in a small space, I used my Tim Holtz Snips to remove the prongs from the back of the brads. 
I made a fun harlequin patterned paper for the background by inking the petite diamond from Gel Press's Sally Lynn MacDonald Sweet Nature Set with that same Charming Pink VersaFine Clair and stamping it repeatedly as a sort of wallpaper pattern; in the spaces between I used Spun Sugar Distress Oxide for a two-toned look. Just for fun, I added a little bit of faux stitching with a White Signo Pen
The only trouble is... now I really wish I had a piece of CAKE!
